Voldemort might have been a force for good, had his father not ditched his wife when she, hoping that he had come to truly love her, took him off the love potion. Then she would not have given up on life and left him in an orphanage.
But, then again, thanks to him, Harry grew up under worse conditions -and became a force for good. Perhaps Voldemort was born evil.
In the original Roger Rabbit novel, Roger inadvertently cast a love spell on Jessica (he wasn't a wizard, he didn't know that a genii was lurking in the tea kettle nearby, and accidentally spoke the words that got the genii to come out.)and it only lasted 1 year. Once the spell wore off, Jessica was free to just walk out on Roger.
